Robin West, MSW, ASW

I am currently a Resgistered Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) working under the supervision of Michelle Riley, MSW, LCSW with the ultimate goal of becoming a licensed therapist. I am committed to advocating for communities that experience inequality and lack equity while providing psychoeducation, coping strategies and healing from challenging life experiences.

Educational Background

I completed my AA degrees in Communication and Psychology at Merced College, which fueled my passion and desire to continue my education at California State University, Stanislaus, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work, graduating with distinction.

Work Experience

Throughout my career, I have worked at Behavioral Health and Recovery Services at Stanislaus Recovery Center and at California State University, Stanislaus University in Counseling and Psychological Services. I had the opportunity to design and lead various workshops, including Boxing and Boundaries, Cycle of Change, and Gardening Art and Goals, while providing individual counseling to clients facing challenges with their mental health and recovery. I have gained valuable experience working for nonprofit organizations over the past five years.

Professional Development

My primary objective is to serve our community by employing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and grief work.  I recently received training in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and have observed significant benefits from this application. While I have previously engaged with these modalities, I plan to further enhance my skills by pursuing additional training and utilizing evidence-based research in my practice.
