Stacey De Witt, MSW, ASW

My name is Stacey De Witt and I am currently an Associate Clinical Social Worker pursuing my LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) as a member of the HopeNet Staff and with the supervision of Michelle Riley, LCSW.

I resided in San Francisco, CA from 2001-2010 earning my Bachelors degree at San Francisco State University and beginning my non-profit career as a Case Manager and Representative Payee.  I completed my MSW at Columbia University in New York City in 2012 with a focus on clinical social work and a concentration on mental and physical health and disabilities.

I expanded my education and clinical social work experience through internships with James Lenox Senior Housing Communities and the ALS Association-Greater New York Chapter.  ALS is more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

As an LMSW in New York City and ASW in my home state of California I have experience providing clinical counseling and therapeutic interventions to teens and adults within mental health facilities, supportive residential sites, community clinics and client home visits. The individuals and groups I have had the privilege to serve have been challenged with complex combinations of mental health diagnosis, experiences of trauma, physical disability, chronic illness, addiction and homelessness.

In my work it is essential to create judgement- free safe spaces where all clients feel respected and valued. I am trained to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) as treatment modalities but prioritize the therapeutic relationship between myself and each client and its ongoing evolution above any specific tool.  My role as a therapist is to support each person, family, or group in gaining a greater self-understanding and for clients to experience personal healing as it relates to trauma, relationships and periods of change or upheaval. I serve as a guide each person in the practical steps of coping, goal setting and the building or rebuilding of healthy and fulfilling lives.
